It’s all over the liberal media right now that Scott Waldron is not only on vacation, but on extended leave because of problems with the board of directors. Now, when I say “board of directors” I’m specifically referring to the new majority, led by chair Mitchell Hicks, gumball salesman Glenn Greene and–the quiet one–Ray Winn. Looks like it took the new board members all of a few months to chase away both Waldron and vet panel member Tom Mahlum. How? With old people! You heard me–it looks like they commissioned the local AARP to declare war on Frenchtown Fire and the last protector of our homes, Scott Waldron.
We got an email from Scott not too far back that he was thinking of filing a claim against the board for breach of contract and creatin’ hostile work conditions. Meanwhile, buddies tell me you can’t get a thing done in that department without old folks demanding to know why the fork’s on the right side of the plate. Screw procedure… these guys are here to save our bacon the way Scott did when he lit those backburns last summer on Evaro Hill while those state fatcats pranced around like Helena dandies.
Now I don’t like property tax levies any more than any other Frenchtowner, but I also don’t like fire. I’m willing to spend money to protect our freedoms and the trucks and 4-wheelers we drive to exercise those freedoms. Waldron is an expense worth keeping. The antagonists will realize this too late, when they’re scrambling for their walkers as the next big wildland fire comes raging over the mountain.
I stand with you on this one Rick.
I remember watching the BlackCat fire through my rangefinders from my roof. I still have the nightly report from that night… check out some of my excerpts from August 17 2007:
“crews appear on hill underneath many helicopters… crews surrounding/entering homes/evacuating… DNRC choppers struggling to keep up… USFS personell feeling for their lives… Smokejumper cuts away from chute… flees… 3 DNRC engines peel out…. flee… all chaos… barrell-chested-hunk-of-man appears… begins conducting backburns without any proper protective equipment… barrel-chested-hunk-of-baldness continues across hill like a man… appears to be saving city and civilization in a wall of flames… feelings of confusion…”
Wow. I remember that evening, watching Scott Waldron and his manly crew save our town in that sturdy solid stand for OUR back yards.
What a moment. It really helped define who I am and what I think about leadership. That’s right.
Scott Waldron is an icon of backyarders like me.
We don’t settle for traditional authority figures like librarians, nurses, or flight attendants. It’s the Scott Waldron’s of the world who teach about

That’s right. I take stands for backyarders.
I totaly agree with Rick and Bobonbeckwith !!!!
The Frenchtown Residents better WAKE UP !! Before it is TOO LATE and we loose a great fire chief and the whole department. Then what will they bitch bout??? ….nothing because their term will be up they will go about their lives and someone will have to re-build this broken down fire department….remember the buildings and trucks will still be here but you will not have anyone to drive them or occupy those empty walls that once was filled with concerned, well trained firefighter/EMS personnel that risk everything for their community. I have never ever seen people act out against a man that has given 20 plus years in helping and saving this community. I am appalled at this new fire board. I had a lady the other day ask me… where did these guys come from and I told her the community elected them. OMG what were they thinking. Frenchtown is a growing community and I heard that OUR NEW FIRE BOARD stated that the public only expects the BASIC service…but I am telling you that when they call 911 they expect more than the basic service. I know I do, so anyone reading this better make a stand to save OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT.
